The detached building, featuring four atrium courtyards, was constructed between 1872 and 1874 according to a design by Ivan Plochberger in the Italian Neo-Renaissance style. It is part of the Lower Town block in Zagreb and is a protected cultural heritage site. As part of the comprehensive renovation project, plans include strengthening the building’s load-bearing framework, restoring the façade, structurally rehabilitating the existing materials, preventing moisture penetration and water infiltration, improving the foundation to meet energy efficiency standards, and modernizing the existing installations.
